(1) Symptoms:
The scales on both sides of the affected fish protrude outward, primarily due to the accumulation of fluid in the scale pockets beneath the scales. In severe cases, death may occur.
(2) Prevention and Treatment Methods:
Once detected, early treatment should be administered. Commonly used methods include antibiotic baths or applying a mixture of antibiotics and trichlorfon after puncturing the blisters.
  • Bathe the affected fish in a mixed solution of 2% salt and 3% baking soda for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to soft green water containing trace amounts of salt (1/10,000 to 1/5,000) for recuperation.
  • Bathe the sick fish in a nitrofurazone solution at a concentration of 20×10⁻⁶ mg/L for 20–30 minutes.
  • Apply nitrofurazone solution throughout the pond at a concentration of (1–2)×10⁻⁶ mg/L. Use (1–1.5)×10⁻⁶ mg/L when water temperature is above 20°C, and (1.5–2)×10⁻⁶ mg/L when below 20°C.
